How does your battery talk?

Wireless. Hardwired. Direct. Open.

EKOcast takes the data from your LIONTRON battery wherever you need it – into apps, onto displays, into controllers and energy systems. Wireless or hardwired.

Get connected

Using Victron? Connect directly.

The EKOcast Driver for Victron integrates compatible LIONTRON batteries straight into Victron GX systems running Venus OS – a Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX, for example. Which path is right for you depends on your battery and your system.

Wireless with EKOcast BLE

Bluetooth-enabled LIONTRON batteries connect directly to your Victron system via EKOcast BLE. No extra communication wiring.

Hardwired with VE.Can

Compatible CAN-enabled LIONTRON systems can use a hardwired VE.Can connection.

EKOcast not on your compatible battery yet? Install EKOcast with LIONflash

Get connected

Using Cristec? Even easier.

EKOcast is already inside the Cristec C-Box. Cristec implemented our open protocol directly into their own communication platform.

Select your battery → Connect → Done

No additional LIONTRON driver. No extra gateway between battery and C-Box.

This assumes EKOcast is installed on your battery. If it isn't yet: Install EKOcast with LIONflash

The architecture

So what exactly is EKOcast?

EKOcast is the open communication architecture around your LIONTRON battery. It makes the relevant battery data available – and at the same time lays the groundwork for secure integration, service and whatever comes next.

Live and direct.

Your relevant battery data is available where you need it: on your phone, on a display, inside a Victron system, inside the Cristec C-Box or inside your own application.

Multiple receivers.

EKOcast BLE allows several receivers to use the data in parallel. One device no longer blocks the connection for everyone else. Phone, display and integrated systems read the same data at the same time.

Secure at the core.

Normal data flow and deep access to the battery are kept apart. You can share and use operating data without opening the BMS to every receiver. When authorised intervention is needed, it runs through a separate, protected access layer.

Simple in operation. Protected on intervention.

Remote service – made possible by EKOcast

EKOcast is not the remote service. EKOcast provides the technical foundation for it. When someone needs deeper access to the BMS, you grant that access deliberately and for a limited time. Authorised service functions then run through the dedicated service application – without leaving normal data communication open for good.

Fast help, without leaving the battery open.

Battery bank

One battery speaks for itself. A battery bank needs coordination.

Every LIONTRON battery starts out as its own intelligent unit. Combine several into a battery bank and a second system layer appears. And with it, questions:

  • Which battery belongs to the bank?
  • Which battery is currently available?
  • Which data belongs to which battery?
  • Which values should be merged?
  • And how should the whole bank present itself to the higher-level system?

That is exactly where the EKOcast Coordinator comes in.

Meet the EKOcast Coordinator

More than a display.

The EKOcast Coordinator combines display, coordination and system integration in one device. It manages batteries, merges the data of a battery bank and passes the information on into different communication worlds.

Coordinate

Capture and manage several batteries as one coherent bank.

Aggregate

Merge battery data into one logical bank – or show individual batteries separately, depending on the target system.

Connect

Translate between communication paths: BLE → CAN, RS485 / LION Bus → CAN, BLE → BLE.

Extend range

Pick up EKOcast BLE data and make it available again – also as BLE range extension between battery and a more distant receiver.

Display

The integrated display shows battery and battery bank data right on the device.

Configure

The display is also the local interface: manage batteries, choose communication paths and – depending on the system – set protocols and display modes.

No bank? Then you don't need a Coordinator either.

Many applications run directly via EKOcast BLE or an existing system integration. So why equip every single battery with additional coordination hardware when most customers will never need it? This system layer only starts to make sense with more complex battery banks – and that is where the Coordinator takes over.

Hardware where it's needed. Not where it only adds cost and complexity.

CAN & protocols

An interface is not an integration.

Having CAN doesn't mean speaking the same language.

CAN is the common data highway. But very different protocols travel on that same road.

VE.Can, NMEA 2000 and other CAN-based protocols share the same underlying transport layer – that does not make them automatically compatible.

What matters is not whether an interface exists. What matters is whether the systems actually understand each other and work together. EKOcast and the Coordinator prepare battery data so that it arrives properly in each system world.

EKOcast doesn't just connect interfaces. EKOcast connects systems.

Open by design

Your system doesn't need our permission.

EKOcast is built to be integrated. That's why we publish the EKOcast protocol for developers, integrators and manufacturers. Want to bring a LIONTRON battery straight into your own device, your own software or your own system? Go ahead.

  • Open for integration.
  • Flexible in use.
  • No artificial need for extra hardware.
